Automation will disrupt 85 million jobs globally by 2025, in medium and large businesses across 15 industries and 26 economies as new data by the World Economic Forum suggests. The report also found that more than 80% of business executives are accelerating plans to digitize work processes and deploy new technologies – 43% of businesses are set to reduce their workforce due to technology integration.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the way businesses operate and how people work, but it has also opened up opportunities in a number of sectors as businesses continue to adapt to the pandemic,” said Ali Matar, head of LinkedIn MENA and emerging markets in Europe and Africa.“2021 will undoubtedly be a year of continued change, but companies will also continue to look for new ways to improve services, create fresh business opportunities and strengthen their talent pools, taking advantage of a greater diversity of skills and talent in the job market.”

The top key skills categories driving the UAE job market are:

E-commerce, Digital marketing specialists, Business development and Technology. 

According to LinkedIn’s findings, with online usage increasing, companies moved to capitalize on it, with a growth of 71% hired into digital marketing roles in 2020. In addition, the UAE witnessed a 61% growth of technology hires in 2020.
