Phil Shaw is EVOKE’s resident digital savant—a designer, gamification expert, and full-stack developer who transforms brand identities into visually stunning, high-conversion platforms. With 10+ years at EVOKE, Phil has built immersive digital experiences, led multi-platform launches, and pioneered the agency’s shift from traditional to next-gen “narrowcast” digital engagement. His work merges design precision with real-world audience data to deliver content that clicks—and sticks.
Across two decades in the creative industries, Phil has shaped his career at the crossroads of design, strategy, and technology. A first-class honours graduate in Games Art and Design from Norwich University of the Arts, he brings both academic rigour and creative intuition to every project. Before joining EVOKE, his independent studio and agency collaborations honed a rare mix of skills: branding, motion design, UX/UI, commercial photography, campaign production, and interactive media. This breadth of expertise now drives his leadership role, where he balances vision with execution, ensuring projects not only look compelling but also function flawlessly across digital ecosystems.
At EVOKE, Phil’s role as Creative & Digital Director places him at the centre of complex, often high-stakes communications environments. He has developed and overseen campaigns in sectors spanning government, defence, NGOs, and corporate brands, navigating cultural nuance and geopolitical sensitivity while still delivering work that resonates universally. Much of this portfolio is non-attributable by its very nature, but the impact is measurable—shaping narratives that inform, persuade, and inspire action across borders.
What sets Phil apart is his ability to merge creative storytelling with data-driven insight. He is a champion of narrowcasting over broadcasting, an ethos that informs how EVOKE reaches audiences with precision. From gamification strategies that build deeper engagement to digital platforms engineered for conversion, his projects consistently demonstrate that the strongest ideas are those tailored to human behaviour. This philosophy extends to his broader creative practice, including published works such as The Prompts Bible 2025, which explores how structured AI creativity can amplify human design and storytelling potential.
Colleagues describe Phil as both a strategist and a maker: someone equally comfortable sketching the first conceptual wireframes as he is overseeing a full cross-platform launch. His career outside EVOKE reflects the same versatility—leading web builds, consulting on visual workflows for major publishers like The Sunday Times, and developing content ecosystems for commercial brands. He has also taught and mentored emerging creatives, sharing his knowledge of gamification and digital interaction with students at Norwich University of the Arts, underscoring his belief in nurturing the next generation of creative thinkers.
In every role, Phil has been guided by the conviction that good design is not decoration—it is strategy made visible. For EVOKE’s clients, this means every interface, identity, and interaction is carefully designed to achieve real-world impact. For Phil himself, it means continuously pushing the boundaries of how design, technology, and narrative can intersect to shape culture, influence opinion, and build lasting connections.
